GRASPnetwork and its two members Anja Puntari and Günter Koch were invited to take part in the opening event of a joint conference organised by the World Capital Institute (www.worldcapitalinstitute.org) and the New Club of Paris (www.new-club-of-paris.org) in Ragusa, Sicily (https://www.jointconferenceragusa.unict.it/), in the form of a World Café. The main aim was to make the somewhat unwieldy and demanding title of the conference understandable and communicable for the subsequent, official part of the conference. The format and the "warm-up" that was organised in this way proved to be extremely productive and enabled the participants to become competent and then immediately productive in the following main part of the event.
An essential, methodical part of the World Café process is that between the two discussion rounds, the participants were asked to select one image from a large collection of photographic and artistically designed pictures, which individually created a visual association for the topic under discussion for this café participant. Through the verbal explanation on the picture and the reason why it was chosen, the discussion was stimulated partly in new directions so the insights were completed.
The images in the form of large-format playing cards were provided by Anja Puntari and are a product of her consultancy work. The results of this "creativity and thinking workshop" were later, at the end of the conference, used as input for a round table discussion with high-calibre representatives of the Ragusa region's economy as a stimulus.
With this creativity concept, GRASPnetwork offers a supplement to its so-called "Knowledge Huddle" methodology and is also happy to offer this type of workshop for other occasions and topics.
